Advisor Kumar unveils first wall calendar of Sericulture Dept | KNO

Jammu, January 10 (KNO) : As part of its endeavors to promote and popularize the sericulture activities, Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar released the wall calendar of Sericulture Department prepared for the first time, here on Thursday. Secretary, Agriculture, Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Director General Planning A K Gandotra, Director Sericulture, Gulzar Ahmad, Special Secretary APD Ravinder Sadhu, Director Finance APD Pritam Singh Rakwal, Project Executive Officer Jammu Division Javed Ahmad and senior officers of Agriculture Production department were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Kumar lauded the efforts of the department for promoting the Sericulture activities and said that the wall calendar shall help it to reach out to maximum households and aware common masses about the activities and schemes of the department. He asked the department to use all available means of media for propagation of the farmer oriented schemes and providing them all technical knowhow. This, he said shall be the motivating force to engage youth with pre and post cocoon activities. He also called for rejuvenating and expanding the sericulture activities to maximize the livelihood opportunities, besides ensuring the stabilization of double cropping of Cocoons for further economic upliftment of farmers associated with Sericulture in the state. Secretary Agriculture, while highlighting the various features of the wall calendar said that every activity and sector has been given proper space in the calendar. It also carries valuable tips for every aspect of Sericulture viz, successful Mulberry plantation, Nursery Vegetative propagation, Incubation of Silkworm Seeds, silkworm rearing, feeding, disinfection, Seed production, reeling and the like, providing handy information to the rearer’s throughout the conduct of Sericulture activities, he added.(KNO)
